People in USA Get Chance to Test New All Terrain Wheelchair for a Year.

Are you currently residing in the USA? Living and breathing all things USA? Is there a bald eagle resting on your shoulder right now as you read this? And are you a wheelchair user?

If you answered yes to (most of) these questions, then listen up! bespoken is about to put you onto the opportunity of a lifetime.

You have just over one week to volunteer for the awesome Trailblazers programme and just maybe get to try out a $3,000 wheelchair entirely free for a period of 12 months.

Designed and developed by GRIT whilst the team were still students at MIT, the Freedom Chair is a simple, all-terrain, easy to use manual wheelchair. With it you can go over woodland paths, wheel over muddy tracks, and zoom through uneven hilly terrain without any difficulties.

In their own words, as found on their website, the team at GRIT are looking for individuals who are:

“[…] passionate, community-minded people of all abilities to join our Trailblazers program. From mountain hikes to trips to the beach to walks around the block, the Freedom Chair facilitates a more active, healthy lifestyle.

‘Sounds pretty sweet, but what’s in it for them?’

“GRIT Ambassadors will help promote the Freedom Chair in their area by seeking adventure on and off the pavement, attending events, facilitating demos, and sharing the GRIT Freedom Chair story through their own photographs, videos, and experiences”.

I see… am I eligible for this?

The number 1 requisite is that you are a wheelchair user suited to a manual chair and living in the USA. Besides these points the ideal candidate will be someone who:

  • loves spending time outdoors, whether that means adaptive sports, nature hikes, gardening, or simply being out and about in their community
  • has an active lifestyle, or aspires to with the help of the GRIT team
  • enjoys sharing experiences with other people
  • is active on social media
  • is consistently motivated to live life to the fullest, regardless of their ability level
  • is a resident of the United States who is 18 years old or older.

Awesome! How do I apply?

Why, by visiting their website and clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button. Applications must be in by February 17th (at 5pm Eastern Time) so don’t leave it too late! You can click here to directly access the right page on the GRIT website.
