For the husband who has problems lifting his legs into bed, I use a loose pair of leg warmers around my ankles which form a soft (not compressing) 'strap'. Mine are made from silk so very light and comfortable. I have tried leg lifters but my feet fall out. For as long as your husband has strength in his arms I hope this will be an inexpensive solution for him. Sent with love.
