Through consumer research and surveys, RICA (a UK charity) strives to help people with disabilities and elderly people live their lives as independently as possible.

Their aims are to provide information and, like bespoken, they hope to influence future products and designs and influence the market to help people.

To be at the forefront of innovation, Rica regularly carries out technical tests and surveys and involves the end users throughout. Research is often carried out with the support of other UK charities and they often succeed in improving the standards of products and services devoted to people who have a disability.

The surveys launched by Rica are all confidential and are for both adults and children. The results are used to; identify the needs of users, to understand what the priorities are and also to help companies focus their future research work. The UK-charity works with several partners such as Disability Rights UK, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Spinal Injuries Association, Scope and Whizz-Kids.

The results from the research RICA carries out is always shared freely to allow maximum number of people to benefit from the findings. By answering surveys, people enter the chance to win £50 in shopping vouchers.

What kind of survey?

Among the surveys developed in the last newsletter published by the charity, one was dedicated to “Speaking TV programme guides”. Users can answer the overall question “Would Speaking TV programme guides help people with visual impairments, and are they feasible?” If you want to have your say on this topic, click here. The deadline is the 8th of September, so feel free to get involved in this survey if you wish.
