SAT bus design; Kinesic Mouse; POSTA and S’up spoon have all gone through to the final round of the Blackwood Design Awards 2015 following a very closely fought 2nd round of voting this week.

Votes were cast by visitors and guests at Blackwood’s 2015 AGM in Dynamic Earth on Tuesday 15th of September. We sadly say goodbye to JamLIFT and Sentino at this stage of the competition but wish their designers the best of luck with the future.

The 2nd round of voting went down very well with guests who were highly impressed with the innovative thinking behind all the entries.

Heather Robertson cast her vote in favour of the Sat Bus Design, and explains:

“I chose SAT because it is important that disabled people get a normal

life as much as they can. Because they can feel isolated, and are always

getting a taxi and taxis are expensive.”

SAT’s designer Matilda was thrilled at the result saying “That’s Great News”, and is now looking forward to the final.

Another voter, Eileen, favoured POSTA, saying:

“I feel this has been a neglected area… improved design will assist dignity,

 independence and freedom of passengers.”

One visitor who sat on the judging panel last year and voted for Kinesic Mouse because he feels it…

“[…]will help a lot of folk in a lot of ways: house control system, gaming,

email and general browsing, etc…”

Markus Pröll, who is the creator of the mouse was delighted with the news of the vote saying “That's incredible news.” also adding proudly “The Blackwood exposure has drawn quite a bit of attention.”

The S’up spoon got a lot of very positive feedback with one guest saying:

“simple is always best – and it can enable many people. It also gives them the ability and dignity to eat when in company”

With round 2 now complete, all of our minds are turning to the 3rd and final round where the overall winner of the competition will be decided. Which is your favourite? Drop us a comment below telling us who you would like to win and why.
