The innovations on the second generation ‘P' Pod from Specialised Orthotic Services include an adjustable tray and a growth liner so the ‘P' Pod grows with the child giving it longevity in the home.

The innovative beanbag incorporates a specialist seat to provide optimum support for disabled children and young adults that have limited posture control. It comes with two types of seat – a standard moulded seat and a custom moulded seat. The custom moulded seat is for children who have more complex postural needs.

A flipover headrest offers support for those with limited head control and a foot tray helps those children who prefer not to have their feet dangling. A bolster cushion also helps ensure the seat is properly upright.

SOS has also developed a mobile base so that the child can be moved from room to room without the need to disturb them when they're comfortable and relaxed. To allow for this the ‘P' Pod can be fitted with two beanbags. The first is a circular base which provides support and stablises the seat plus the standard bean bag which gives it its shape. When the parent or carer wishes to move the child the bottom bean bag is simply removed and Velcro side straps are fastened underneath the beanbag. This gives it an oval shape allowing it to be fitted comfortably into the mobile base.

The mobile base has four castors to make it easily manoeuvrable and it has been designed so it fits through a standard door frame.

The ‘P' Pod can also be embroidered with the child's name, favourite band or football team making each one individual. The seat comes in a range of colours in plush velour fabric so it can be made to match the child's bedroom or the décor of the family home.
