Active Minds offers a range of activity products specifically developed for people living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Ben Atkinson-Willes founded Active Minds in 2009 after personal experience with his grandfather highlighted the lack of suitable activities for people who, like him, were living with dementia.

Aquapaint - is a unique painting activity for people with dementia. Simply paint water onto the sheets and watch the image appear. Each set comes with four different images that have been carefully selected to help start conversation when the painting is complete. As the water dries the image will fade ready to be used time and again

Puzzles - each puzzle consists of eleven pieces that can be assembled within the frame and on a specially printed backing board that is designed to assist and encourage the users. Allowing the user to achieve the satisfaction of completing the puzzle and creating a beautiful image on their own.

The puzzles are made from wood making them extremely durable and easy to clean. The size and shape of each piece, the colours used and the unique backing board system have all been designed and tested to help users of all abilities complete the puzzles unassisted. Images have been carefully chosen to allow for visual impairment, to stimulate memories and conversation and to give the user a valuable sense of achievement and pride.

Conversation Cards - help carers and family prompt conversations and happy memories with people living with Dementia. These invaluable conversation prompts on topics from the 40’s and 50’s, make it easy to enjoy fascinating and fun conversations about people’s life experiences from a time that holds some of their most vibrant and enduring memories.

The themes are relevant to a number of generations, with everyday subjects that are fun to talk about and help prompt happy and amusing memories; from holidays, home life, hairdos and handkerchiefs. The cards are A5 size with images on the front and brief descriptions and background information on the back, together with a few triggers to help get conversations going with a swing.
