What with the Sochi Winter Olympics and Paralympics less than 40 days away, here’s one for the sports enthusiasts out there.

The British Paralympic Association (BPA) is naturally very concerned with getting more people with disabilities involved in sports. And a few years ago they were worried that part of the reason they were struggling was simply lack of information available.

After all a person might be very keen to try some new and exciting sport but be discouraged by not knowing where to begin. What sports are actually available for people who have a disability? Will they cater for their particular needs? And where is there a club you could join?

So in 2007 BPA teamed up with professional services firm, Deloitte, to create Deloitte Parasport, an online tool that lets people with a disability find out easily what sports they can do and where they can do them.

Here’s how

All you have to do is enter what disability you have, and Deloitte Parasport will instantly give you a list of suggested sports that are suitable to your needs. Or alternatively, if you know what sport you want to do, you can find a club near you that can give you the chance to try it.

Deloitte Parasport makes a point of saying that it caters to sports enthusiasts of all level, from rank amateur to future Paralympic champions. Each and every one of the sports they offer comes with details of its history and concise explanations of what it actually involves. Let 2014 be your year of fitness.
