Etac E890 And E895 Revolutionise Powered Wheelchairs by Ryan Dubickas - Pearson

When I was at Naidex with the bespoken team I had the privilege to meet up with the Etac team. I was given an in depth demonstration of the revolutionary powered wheelchair from their current E800 series. This powered wheelchair has all the same high levels of design and mobility of previous chairs and has all the functions from earlier models in the series and a few new ones added to help build confidence and create more independence for the user. I present to you the Etac E890 & E895.

This powered chair is designed and built with your life in mind, from your family life to your work life. This power chair boasts the characteristics of an outdoor wheelchair and the flexibility of an indoor chair. This enables you to go a trip to the countryside and relax at home in the same chair. The on-board computer which is fully programmable enables you to make everyday movements with ease.  The E890 & E895 boasts the capability to put the user of the powered chair into a full upright standing position and once in this position you can drive the chair about indoor and outdoor. An automatic caster stabilisation system ensures safe standing or repositioning on uneven surfaces.   This could become useful for family life when you are cooking or playing with your children and also when at work when doing presentations and socialising.  The powered wheelchair is near enough silent when moving and is front wheel drive for maximum manoeuvrability.

Some differences between the two models are that the E890’s electric seat tilt backward function can tilt 55 degrees compared to the E895 which can tilt back 12 degrees. Also the seat slide function moves 150mm with the E890 and only a mere 50mm with the E895. The E890 has a weight capacity of 120kg and the E895 can hold up to 150kg.

With safety and comfort at the heart of the powered wheelchair there are many features that influence this. A fully adjustable head rest for comfort and support, calf pads, knee brace and chest strap help make you safe when in this powered wheelchair.  There are many add ons you can add to the chair like a fold away tray, thoracic pads, knee pads, rucksack/bag hooks and attendant control system.  The E890 and E895 have a choice of chassis and seat fabric colours you can choose from. This helps make your chair unique and shows how flexible your chair can be and can be adapted for any situation. When you have a fully charged the battery it can last up to 31.1 miles. This product has a top speed of 9.9kph.

Would you use this powered wheelchair and could it help you in your everyday life?
