What with golf due to make a comeback at the 2016 Olympic Games after more than a century’s absence, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before they show up at the Paralympic games… maybe, I think.

In any case you don’t need to be an Olympic athlete to enjoy the sport. I came across a handy (you’ll appreciate the pun in a second) utensil that can enable people to carry on golfing even if they are unable to get a good grip of their golf clubs.

Introducing the Grip-Par golf glove; a specially designed glove with a large piece of Velcro that can help strengthen a weak grip. It’s a simple enough idea but it can make all the difference. It’s described thusly on the website

“The strapping system is angled to align you into the correct grip position when applied. The wrist to knuckle system locks you into a grip position perfectly and with the aid of the Velcro finger sections you still get the movement and feel from the club not restricting any movement.”

Other versions

Gripeeze, who design and sell this glove, do of course realise that although a fine and noble sport, golf is not necessarily everyone’s number 1 sporting activity of choice. They have designed different gloves along the same lines for use in the gym, racket sports, rowing, etc.

Furthermore, and stepping away from the world of sports just a little, they have a range of gloves for fishing (try wrestling an angry fish out the water without a good grip on the fishing rod), gardening and DIY.
