 As 2011 draws to a close, I can reflect back with some satisfaction on the operational progress that has been achieved by the team here in Interface over the past 12 months.
November 2010 had seen the publication of the independent evaluation of Interface by EKOS, on behalf of the Scottish Funding Council, outlining a number of recommendations concerning the future delivery of Interface as a service. In conjunction with the Interface Advisory Board we have taken forward the recommendations with the following outcomes; With a 47% increase in the number of collaborative projects facilitated compared to AY2010-11 we are not resting on our laurels but continuing to engage, influence and catalyse new collaborative projects between companies and academia so that they will have developed the competitive edge post the economic downturn. You can review some of our recent successes in the case study section of our website or keep up to date via our tweets and weekly blogs.
I would also like to thank Prof Dominic Houlihan, University of Aberdeen, who is stepping down from his role as Chair of the Interface Advisory Board at the end of 2011 after 5 years. We look forward to working with Prof Peter Downes, Principal of University of Dundee who will take up his Chairman duties in guiding Interface in our next chapter of growth and strategic direction.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE BLACKWOOD FOUNDATION
Blackwood Foundation worked with an academic partner to document the results  of 11 workshops that they hosted throughout Scotland, gathering the views of people with disabilities. In response to the findings in the report, Blackwood Foundation has now launched a social media site, bespoken. bespoken will act as an information forum for disabled people and those in the relevant disability fields to share knowledge and increase awareness of the design and technology solutions available to them.
