3D printing technology is being used to create unique covers for prosthetic legs, adding a layer of personal style to the plain and functional appearance of artificial limbs. A scan of the user’s leg is used to design and print the covers according to their preferences. A long term aim is to apply the technology to the manufacture of cheap prosthetic limbs in developing countries.
