THE ACROBAT - THE WHEEL REINVENTED By Ryan Dubickas - Pearson

One problem that keeps arising in our bespoken forums is that new wheelchair inventors are not taking suspension into consideration when creating new chairs. Gilad Woolf came up with an idea so that you can have the latest wheelchair no matter how bad the suspension and now it has become a reality. I present to you the “The Acrobat” wheel.

Who ever thought the wheel would be reinvented and improved, Gilad Woolf is the man that has accomplished this. Gilad Woolf sustained a broken leg and was wheelchair bound during his recovery. Over these months he was frustrated with the lack of suspension in his wheelchair especially when traveling on rough terrain. He thought of an idea and partnered up with several companies and now his idea is going to change lives all over.

The Acrobat

The Acrobat wheel is versatile and can be equipped to any wheeled frame. The Acrobat makes for no energy loss and a stable ride so you don’t get a bobbing sensation when traveling.  The wheel has a symmetrical design which makes it look smart and stylish. The Acrobat provides multi directional shock absorption which makes this wheel comfortable for the wheelchair user. This wheel provides a compact suspension solution by using a “selective suspension” mechanism in the wheels. The mechanism remains static when traveling on standard floors, pavements and smooth surfaces and prompts a shift upon hitting an obstacle. This makes the Acrobat wheel shock absorbent and able to reduce the blows felt from obstacles by creating a cushioning effect which reduces the stress to the body.

The YouTube video at the bottom of the page shows the Acrobat wheel in all its glory.

In Production

Last month the wheel just finished the development stage and is now in production for sale. It should be available at retail soon.

Could this wheel be the answer you were looking for? Would you purchase this wheel and could it change your everyday life?
