A bit off topic but I thought  would be fun to compare views

here are my best moments

  • Jason Smyth winning the T13 100m in 10.4 seconds - He very narrowly missed out on Irish Olympic team  which is a shame since  being as he is visually impaired and so no different equioment there would have been no controversy .It would have been true equality.
  • Hannah Cockcroft in 100m
  • The goalball tournament
  • The crowds - full capacity

and the Not so good things ...............

  • The constant use of 'able-bodied' instead of 'non-disabled'
  • Commentatotors calling athletes 'brave'
  • Certain politicians being chosen to present the medals

Hi Alison,

That's the beauty of 'And another thing...' - you can't be off topic!

So many individual and team highlights it's almost impossible to choose.

One thing I have really been proud of is the way the crowd has got behind every athlete, and when someone is coming in minutes behind the race winners they keep cheering until they all make it over the line.  Restores my faith in humanity.

I know what you mean about 'brave' - I'm sure it's meant with good intent but for me it has slightly patronising overtones.  The Paralympians, just like the Olympians before them, have been inspiring.

perhaps one games legacy will be that disabled people are innovators, designers  and engineers.Reports on the games say that many competitors adapted their own equipment. Lets hope this means that more disabled people are encouraged to become designers and engineers  starting from the age they make their GCSE or Standard Grade options

Another great memory of the games - CP football is really exciting , fast and skilful , i would pay more to watch that than SPL or Premiership stop-start stuff
