Crossing the countryside in a normal wheelchair can be challenging to say the least but now with the Mountain trike available to the public this has been made a little bit easier.

Here at bespoken we like to keep you up to date with the latest products to hit the market. This one is a little special to us as this product was improved by a bespoken member who won our Blackwood student design competition. Ian McDiarmid made improvements to the original concept of the Mountain Trike by adding

  • Derailleur based gear system offering 3 gears
  • Quick Release wheels for improved ease of transportation
  • Improved axle layout to ensure accessibility to the gears and disk brake for maintenance

The Mountain Trike has been designed so you can travel on rough terrain like sand, snow and rocky paths with ease. With a dual lever system for steering at the front of the Trike this keeps your hands clean when traveling on muddy paths. Shock absorbers in the wheels help take stress of the body when traveling through rough terrain.  The mountain Trike can be adapted if you have certain needs and will take a build time between 8-10 weeks. Mountain Trikes are being used by the armed forces in rehabilitation centres for ex-military to help rehabilitate them after being injured at war.

This Mountain Trike is not for everyone with a starting price at £3995 but a must have for thrill seekers and people who enjoy the challenge of the outdoors.

If you cannot use the Mountain Trike we have a couple of alternative powered chairs which are built for the outdoors.  The Observer 4x4 RX and Observer LX.

The Observer LX is ideal for traveling through rough terrain and has a top speed of 8mph. The observer LX currently retails at £6940

Observer RX has an auto levelling seat which makes the chair able to climb steep slopes and also stairs (6inch). This chair has a top speed of 6mph. The Observer RX currently retails at £7718.
