What’s On: Sat 10th Breaking Down Barriers, An Afternoon of Culture

The Equality and Rights Network (EARN) is to host a free afternoon of culture and events, with a focus on accessibility in Edinburgh this Saturday the 10th.

According to their website, the creative event will “give those who face barriers to access in Edinburgh an opportunity to tell their stories, how they want to tell them.”

“Many people face different kinds of barriers in day to day life – come and join us to take a look at what access means to different people, and at how we can increase the visibility of those facing different barriers every day.” - EARN

With a screening ‘Buggy Off’, a short film by Edinburgh based charity ‘get2gether’, and poetry and songs by artists Lindsay Oliver and Penny Stone, the afternoon will conclude with a wheelchair dance and raffle with prizes from Filmhouse, KnotStressed, Edinburgh Leisure and Tunnocks.

Also present, will be prominent figures in Edinburgh’s disabled community. There will be stalls by Euan's Guide, Volunteer Edinburgh, Homelands Trust Fife, Wee Red UpCycles, Neatebox, Freedom From Torture Edinburgh, People First and Get2gether.

The event will take place between 14:00 – 16:00 at Norton Park Conference Centre on Albion Road.
