"Exactly how blind is that person?" is a question that has probably run through the mind of many a person who doesn't fully understand the reality of visual impairment.

In fact a great many people fail to realise that 93% of those who are registered blind or visually impaired can in fact see something. Nonetheless, people who are genuinely visually impaired are often the victims of dirty looks or amazed stares if they carry a white stick only to then pull out a book or mobile device and look at it.
