Since last year’s London Paralympics and Olympics cycling has become one of the most popular individual sports. More and more people are seizing the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air of the countryside, combined with healthy exercise.

Speaking of Paralympics, visitors to the Roadshow on Saturday, June 29th will have the opportunity to talk serious cycling with Paralympian cyclist Rik Waddon, who has gained a long list of awards over the years including London 2012 Paralympic Games Team Sprint Silver Medallist and has just recently won the Rudy Project, one of the first steps going forward for his Road to Rio 2016 campaign.

This year the Roadshow’s Cyclefest expands with even more special needs cycles. You’ll find a great range of accessible bike and trikes that enable people of all ages with restricted mobility to join in, whether on an adapted model, a side-by-side companion cycle or a wheelchair passenger version. All-ability cycling enables all families to ride out together.

Cyclefest also provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable advice from some of the UK’s leading accessible cycling specialists including cycling charity, Empowered People.  London Recumbents, Quest 88 Ltd and Mountain Trike Company will all be there with their latest models.

You can try them all, including systems that convert existing bicycles and handcycles into electric cycles, such as the Falco e-Bike system from Team Hybrid.

Team Hybrid will also have its Kiddy Viper and Kiddy Coyote Powered Handcycles designed to help  children develop their independence whilst having fun.

One mother and her young disabled son attended a recent Mobility Roadshow specifically for the Cyclefest feature. At age 10 he had never been able to ride a bicycle. He had the ride of his life, with the broadest smile ever and didn’t want to stop!
