National Competition for Disabled Photographers to be Announced at Mobility Roadshow

Giles Duley the award-winning humanitarian photographer is to provide inspiration to amateur photographers with disabilities.

He will be attending the Mobility Roadshow on Friday 28 June to announce On the Move 2013, the annual national competition for disabled photographers, jointly organised by the Disabled Photographers’ Society and Mobility Choice, the charity behind the Mobility Roadshow.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Roadshow is the UK’s premier consumer event of its kind and takes place from 27-29 June for the first time at the Telford International Centre.

In 2011 whilst on patrol with the US Army in Afghanistan Giles stepped on an improvised explosive device and was severely injured losing both legs and an arm.

Already a world-renowned humanitarian photographer, he was a winner at the Prix de la Photographie, Paris in 2010 and again in 2012 following the incident.

During his time at the Roadshow Giles will be pleased to share with visitors his photographic experiences as well as his rehabilitation to resume work. “Both Giles and his compelling humanitarian photography are an inspiration to all of us, especially those newly disabled and we are delighted to have his support to our competition,” said Jacqui Jones, chief executive, Mobility Choice.
