Navevo and Thales Alenia Space have come together to create a navigation system targeted at wheelchair users. This is claimed to be the world's first barrier-free navigation system, offering wheelchair users a safe and reliable way of traversing both road and pedestrian routes to reach their destination.

The company intends to bring out a product later this year that will work both in car and be removable to carry on guiding you via step-free routes to your destination.

Personally, I'd love to see this guidance system as a phone app - or at least a set of downloadable POIs to integrate with the SatNav app I already prefer on my large Android based phone. I'm sure it (or another system like it) will come.

When I hear, I'll post news here.
