Customised PlayStation controller made for Cerebral Palsy

Peter Byrne is an avid gamer who has Cerebral Palsy. He recently wrote a tentative email to PlayStation explaining the trouble he was having using their latest hand held controller. On his Facebook page Peter relates the story:

“I decided to message PlayStation support and they gave this email address and tell them my issue and wait for a response.”

His condition meant he was constantly hitting the touch pad on the controller and pausing the game inadvertently. The response was not long in coming.

“A man by the name of Alex Nawabi from PlayStation messaged me and told me he was taking my matter personally and not on behalf of PlayStation.”

Alex and Peter exchanged a few more emails and discussed the issue back and forth between them so that Alex could fully understand the problem and fix it.

Putting in the all the extra man hours he could spare, working out the bumps and little frustrations, eventually Alex got back to Peter with a sad negative.

He hadn’t managed to make suitable adjustments, was very sorry, but would send Peter a little goody box from PlayStation instead as a consolation…

…Except this wasn’t true at all.

Alex Nawabi obviously has a touch of theatricality in him as this bad news was just a decoy to land a big surprise on Peter. When his box from PlayStation arrived, it didn’t have the usual promotional gifts he expected but instead, a one off personalised and adapted controller courtesy of Alex. Also included in the box was this letter.

The surprise was a total success, catching Peter completely off guard and making his day.

“I honestly got choked up reading the letter as I did not expect anything like this to happen. Mr. Nawabi really cared about my situation and did this on his own time to make my experience better.”

The only remaining question is - will PlayStation make this a standard controller available to any who need it? Or will it remain a one off?
