New multiplayer games introduced as Clever Cogs hits first anniversary!

Blackwood’s Innovation team returned to Broom Court in Stirling this week. The dedicated care home was the first location to receive Clever Cogs, Blackwood’s personalised digitally enhanced care system. This week marks the one year anniversary since residents received their first devices and like all good anniversaries, this one came with a gift.

Blackwood’s Digital Skills Trainer Shawn More paid a visit to Broom Court to mark the occasion and took the opportunity to introduce staff and residents alike to the all new multiplayer games that have been installed on the touch screen devices that are at the heart of Clever Cogs.

Anyone who has been following the  Clever Cogs trial from its inception will recall the huge success of the single player games in the very beginning which, for many residents, marked their first ever contact with any kind of computer.

Standing on a metaphorical soapbox and gathering in a crowd, Shawn gave a brief overview of the new games and how to play with friends online, but it wasn’t too long before everyone was eagerly awaiting their turn to have a go.

Margaret and her friend Patsy especially took to it with huge enthusiasm and were firing off games of noughts and crosses, and rock-paper-scissors and getting more competitive with each round!

Looking back on the day, Shawn says:

“This event was put together to mark the first anniversary of Clever Cogs being at Broom Court and marked the beginning  of our group based learning  sessions so we can build on the fantastic engagement we have seen from our residents in this last year.”
