Oneswitch: website devoted to gamers with a disability

By Quentin Paimparay

At Naidex, bespoken discovered Oneswitch: an interactive website devoted to gamers who have a disability. Assistive technologies and fun ideas are gathered on the website to help people with physical and/or learning disabilities enjoy what is one of the fastest growing entertainment industries.

Oneswitch is devoted to people who are eager to share ideas and experience and who want to get information about gaming products. The website is divided into several parts which include some of the following:

News Blog

Fairly self-explanatory; this section allows people to get a better understanding of new gaming products and keep up to date with the latest innovations. People can also comment on the different articles and interact with each other.

Switch Gaming

This part gives advice to gamers. The aim of Oneswitch is to give disabled people the opportunity to be in the heart of the game, regardless of their disability. Thus, Oneswitch focuses on games playable with a single switch and currently campaigns for accessibility features in all games.

Shop

Equipment that is sold can be used with disability standard switches and sensors. It is also possible to buy a large range of gaming hardware which suits every level.

Library

The library allows people to download software, products and instructions, all for free. In this section there are more than one hundred games gathered. You can also find articles which explain how to use the switches.

Art

This part highlights creative games and product. There are several links to other websites and different games in which people can develop their creativity.

Ideas

As is implied, the goal of the section is to share ideas about gaming. Gamers, customers and professionals are actively involved with this interactive platform.
The section is divided in eight categories which are:

-          Switch video Games

-          Other Switch Games

-          Switch Accessible Music

-          Switch Accessible Art

-          D.I.Y. Switch Equipment

-          Switch Equipment to buy

-          Communication

-          Various

Do it yourself

This part is devoted to people who want to manually adapt low voltage electronic gadgets and computer controllers. It gives advice and allows gamers to feel more confident with the installation.
