As technology moves forward it's good to see it being used not only productively but selflessly too. A group of people have designed a robotic hand for a young boy that can be "printed" with a simple (these days!) 3D printer.

The really good bits?

First, the electronic plans are scalable - so as the young lad grows it's a simple matter to tell the computer to "print" a larger hand for him.

Second, the group has released the design files for the hand as open-source files so that anyone in similar need can (excuse the pun) take a hand and help themselves.

Great story George its good to see 3D printing being put to good use given recent press reports about printing guns! The fact that the design is open-source is even better. You can download the plans and print your own from here
