INSPIRATIONAL ETAC POWERCHAIR OWNER MICHAEL MCGRATH TO APPEAR AS 30TH ANNIVERSARY MOBILITY ROADSHOW AMBASSADOR

Michael McGrath, inspirational motivational speaker and co-founder of The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF), has been selected as a Mobility Roadshow Ambassador and will be supporting the 30th anniversary event in his cutting edge Etac E800 powerchair.

Michael will be appearing at The Mobility Roadshow on 27 June and will be available for interviews on the Etac Stand (L3), Ludlow Suite, between 2–4pm.

The MHF delivers amazing and unforgettable experiences in the UK called ‘Muscle Dreams’ for children and young people with the muscle wasting disease, Muscular Dystrophy (MD). MD affects over 70,000 people in the UK and varies in complexity with no known cure. Michael himself has MD and hence uses a cutting-edge, Scandinavian engineered Etac E890 powerchair for daily mobility and the ability to achieve a standing position. This powerchair is the milestone 1,000th production model and represents a pioneering development in functionality and intelligent bespoke programming.

Michael is a remarkable individual who besides being the driving force behind this family charity, is a highly accomplished motivational speaker. He is also the first and currently only disabled person to have completed expeditions to both the North and South Poles and he carried the Paralympic torch last year. During the 2012 Games, Michael also successfully led the high profile ‘Games Inspired Muscle Dreams’ experience for 75 beneficiaries that was supported by Etac UK.

As part of his pre-show Ambassador duties, Michael has been communicating about the 30th Mobility Roadshow throughout his daily activities associated with the MHF and is looking forward to engaging with high numbers of professional and consumer visitors at the event. Michael explains: “I am honoured to have been selected as a Mobility Roadshow Ambassador especially for this very special 30th anniversary event. My team and I have pro-actively championed the Roadshow and its charity based organisers, Mobility Choice, throughout all associated MHF functions and social media activity. Sharing my enthusiasm for this feature-rich show has been essential, as I believe it offers a real unique opportunity for visitors to witness the very best in mobility innovation. The event showcase clearly demonstrates all the means to regain independence whether disabled via injury or a specific condition and hence, I look forward to helping individuals discover new ways to improve well being at the Telford International Centre.”

Meeting Michael on Stand L3 in the Ludlow Suite will provide the rare opportunity to hear about his many remarkable achievements and the outstanding work of his charity. His attendance will coincide with a product showcase from his powerchair supplier, Etac UK. Etac UK will be demonstrating models such as Michael’s ergonomic and state-of-the-art E890 with standing capability alongside other adult and paediatric powerchairs from the Balder range. New powerchair accessories will also be on display including the Etac detachable powerchair bag. Ian Carter, Etac UK Managing Director who will be attending the show concluded: “We believe Mobility Choice could not have chosen a more dynamic and personable individual to be a Roadshow Ambassador this year. Michael’s work ethic for the MHF has to be admired and I know he will have been just as committed to supporting the Roadshow. We anticipate a busy show this year and Michael’s presence will surely heighten the level of interest and excitement at the 2013 event.”
