The Doormatic is an easy-install device that opens and closes doors automatically.

It doesn’t require costly structural alterations to fit and its easy to configure with its user-friendly screen menu interface.

There are a number of ways to activate Doormatic. Push & Go opens the door when you gently nudge it and automatically closes it afterwards. Radio-activation works with a hand held remote control, wall switch or a motion detector.

Doormatic can also be customized in other ways: through the menu screen you can alter speed, power, waiting time and whether the device opens and closes or just closes.

A combination of good design, convenience and flexibility led to it winning the prestigious James Dyson People's Choice Award.

This looks interesting.  It's appealing because of its simplicity (plug and play, almost) but I'm a little concerned about the size of it.  I can see it being unusable in many domestic settings because there isn't room to get past it.

I agree this mechanism is a fantastic idea but until the design is trimmed down to about half the thickness of the current product then it won't be useful to people who live in smaller space accommodation or flats. I have my room doors permanently wedged open which is not a good idea when you think about fire etc. Also, installing the device on say an outside door could also cause problems with safety. Unfortunately there are people out there who would take advantage of a door closing slowly behind someone entering their house so I'm not sure it would be a good idea to have one installed on a front door. All in all a great device but needs more thought and design tweaking before considering installing.
